Liverpool slumped to a heavy 3-1 defeat to Chelsea in their Champions League quarter final first leg game on Wednesday and will have to score at least three goals at Stamford Bridge if they are to progress to the next round.Manager Rafa Benitez will be hoping that his side will be able to put behind the disappointing result and continue their excellent league form with another victory against Blackburn and maintain the pressure on Manchester United in the race for a Premier League title.
Blackburn Rovers on the other hand will be looking to build on their surprise victory over Tottenham Hotspur from last weekend and pull further away from the relegation zone. Two late goals from Benni McCarthy and Andre Ooijer propelled Blackburn to a 2-1 win after Tottenham looked to on course for a comfortable victory thanks to a 30th minute goal by Robbie Keane.
The win lifted Blackburn to 15th in the league table, five points clear of the drop zone and with just seven matches remaining in the season, manager Sam Allardyce will be confident that his side will be able to avoid relegation.
Blackburn will be confident of coming away with at least a point on Saturday but will have to put up a vastly improved performance from the last time that the two teams met this season. The match ended in a comfortable 3-1 win for Liverpool and Benitez will be hoping for a similar result this time around.
